Day 1 : ARRIVE MADRID
Welcome to Madrid. Relax or explore this lively city before meeting up with your fellow travellers and Travel Director. Enjoy an evening drive to take in some of the city’s main sights followed by a Welcome Reception.

Day 2 : MADRID – PAMPLONA
Travel north to Pamplona, the capital of the old Kingdom of Navarre. The city is famous for the San Fermín festival, commonly known as the Running of the Bulls. See the ancient city walls and Plaza del Castillo, the heart of the city where markets, tournaments and even bullfighting have taken place.

Day 3 : PAMPLONA – SAN SEBASTIAN – BILBAO – SANTANDER (2 NIGHTS)
Arrive in the city of San Sebastian and see the beautiful Bahia de la Concha beach. San Sebastian is known as the culinary capital of Spain so why not enjoy the local pinchos? Perhaps visit the City Hall, once the home of the casino or the Baroque Basilica of Santa Maria. In Bilbao view the modern Guggenheim Museum designed by architect Frank Gehry. Later arrive in Santander, capital of the Cantabrian region.

Day 4 : SANTANDER FREE TIME
The whole day is free to relax and unwind either with a day at the beach or a walk through the historic centre. Alternatively why not join an Optional Experience to the coastal town of Comillas and see the cobbled streets and squares? Perhaps visit Gaudi’s Capricho and the museum dedicated to the Altamira Caves.

Day 5 : SANTANDER – PICOS DE EUROPA – COVADONGA – OVIEDO
Spectacular scenery awaits today as you travel through the Picos de Europa, a mountain range rich in flora and fauna. The region sits between two main pilgrim routes and has numerous historic market towns. Visit the grotto of ‘Our Lady of Covadonga’. Here you also have the chance to visit the basilica made from the pink marble of the surrounding hills. Later arrive in Oviedo and enjoy a Be My Guest dinner where you will also learn about the local green cider.

Day 6 : OVIEDO – LUARCA – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA (2 NIGHTS)
Hidden on the Asturian coast, Luarca is a quiet village and has managed to preserve its seafaring charm. Later arrive in the pilgrim city of Santiago de Compostela. This, for many people, will be the end of their ‘camino’.

Day 7 : SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME
Your Local Specialist will explain the ‘Way of St James’ and why hundreds of people walk here as part of a pilgrimage on a daily basis. Visit the vast cathedral and the Praza do Obradoiro, a square dominated by four distinct architectural styles. Why not enjoy an Optional Experience to the Rias Biaxas for breathtaking views of the Galician coast? The region has long waterways stretching inland which are said to be the mark left by God’s hand when he cleansed himself after creating the world.

Day 8 : SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA – ZAMORA – SALAMANCA
Start the day with a drive through Galicia and the region of Castile-Leon to Zamora, known as a ‘museum of Romaesque art’. See the 12th century cathedral with its richly sculptured Bishop’s Door and the scaled Dome. Later arrive in Salamanca where a Local Specialist will take you on a sightseeing tour including a visit to Spain’s oldest University as well as a walk through the imposing Plaza Mayor.
