DAY 1 :
Rome
The first day brings you from the airport to the lively and vivacious city of Rome. Here you will check-in to your hotel. The remainder of the day is for your leisure to explore the breathtaking city with its magnificent views and colorful attractions as you wish. Dinner is not included on this day, so you are free to find the restaurant of your choice to indulge in the local offerings.
DAY 2 :
Rome
The official tour begins today. The day starts off with a mouthwatering buffet breakfast, provided by the accommodating hotel. A 9-00 a.m. departure time from the hotel will start off a three-hour informative walking tour. This will be led by an English speaking guide and will show you many notable attractions, including the sunken ruins of Largo di Torre Argentina, the ancient buildings and statues of Campo de’ Fiori, the beautiful Baroque period Piazza Navona, Piazza Farnese, which is the historic heart of Rome, and the most influential best preserved building known as the Pantheon. The famous Spanish Steps will be visited as they bridge the gap between the Piazza di Spagna and the Piazza Trinita Dei Monti. The breathtaking view of the Trevi Fountain, which is the largest Baroque fountain in the city, will finish out the tour for the day. The remainder of the day is for your leisure to do with as you wish. A comforting overnight stay will be had at your accredited three-star hotel. Dinner will not be included as part of the package for this evening.
DAY 3 :
Rome-Assisi-Siena-Florence
After a scrumptious buffet style breakfast, a 7-00 a.m. departure time from the hotel to the city of Assisi by way of coach will begin. As you travel through the magical town here you see Basilica of Saint Croce, which houses the ancient Renaissance masterpieces crafted by Giotto and Cimabue. Following Assisi, a continuing journey to the small medieval city of Siena will begin. Siena is renowned for its timeless art, magnificent museums, fine cuisine and world-known Palio horse races. You will then proceed to Florence where check in at a centrally located three-star hotel will be done. A delightful and filling dinner will then be provided.
DAY 4 :
Florence, Pisa
A delicious breakfast will be served at the hotel, followed by a lively and informative guided tour of Florence, Italy. This historic city, also known as the cradle of the Renaissance, is dotted with colorful attractions to pique your interest. The tour will begin at the heart of the city, the Piazza del Duomo. This is one of the most visited attractions in all of Europe. The Piazza is home to the beautiful Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the architecturally gothic Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistery of St. John, which has the status of a minor Basilica. The Basilica of Santa Croce, the famous 13th century Franciscan Church which holds Cimabue’s famed crucifix will also be visited. This is one of three crucifixes still in existence created by the world renowned artist. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure. You may use it for shopping or additional site seeing, including the half day tour of Pisa (optional activity, not included) if you choose. A delightful dinner and a cozy night’s stay at the hotel will end this exciting day.
DAY 5 :
Florence-Padua-Venice
The day will begin with a breakfast buffet at your hotel. A departure by coach from Florence to Venice via Padua will follow breakfast. The first stop will be in Doge’s Palace. The palace is wonderful art (paintings by Titian, Tintoretto, and Veronese), majestic staircases and many more. A panoramic walking tour of Venice Island will bring you to the famous St. Mark’s square and the majestic Basilica of St. Mark. As you continue on this delightful walking tour, you will see the infamous Bridge of Sighs as it connects the prisons to the domineering Palace of the Doge. During the evening, a delicious dinner and relaxing overnight stay will be had at the hotel in Venice.
DAY 6 :
Venice
A breakfast buffet will be served at the hotel to start off the day. A morning escort through Venice will be taken by way of boat. The trip will start with a crossing through the Venetian Lagoon offering views of the islands and impressive scenery. A short stop will be taken at the island of Murano, where you will assist to a demonstration of the traditional art of glass blowing. This small but well-populated island was once an independent commune but is now a territorial suburb of Venice. The afternoon will be at your leisure, with extra time that will allow for shopping and additional site seeing as you choose. A delicious dinner will be provided at the local hotel, along with a peaceful night’s sleep.
DAY 7 :
Venice
A final and tasty breakfast will be served as the semi-escorted tour is ended.
