Day 1 :Arrive Kiruna, exploring and attractions, IceHotel
Wrap up warm and explore Kiruna. Take a tour of the local iron-ore mine and visit the Kiruna Kryka, the town’s church, which incorporates Sami culture in the design. Enjoy the frozen beauty of the Ice Hotel, the world’s first and largest hotel built of snow, which takes on a new look every year from 1,000 tonnes of Torne River ice and 30,000 tons of ‘snice’, a mix of snow and ice.
Day 2 : Snowmobile and the Northern Lights
Take a minibus to Kurraara then jump on a snowmobile sled led by experienced guides and enjoy a unique drive through the frozen landscapes of the Arctic on a hunt for the Northern Lights. Glide along the Torne River, stop for a Lapland delicacy and drink by a camp fire, and watch the Aurora Borealis come to life.
Day 3 : Sami tour
Enjoy a full-on reindeer experience at Nutti Sami Siida and learn all about the Sami, the peaceful locals of Lapland who live up to their nickname, the ‘no problem people’. Make your base at their wonderful Reindeer Lodge, throw a lasso, go hiking with a Sami guide, take a reindeer sledding trip, and enjoy listening to their stories and myths.
Day 4 : Dogsledding and the Northern Lights at Aurora Sky Station
Relax in a morning sauna at the Ice Hotel and then jump on a dog-sled, led by a team of eager huskies, for a short journey through the white wilderness of the arctic. Back to the hotel and take a train from Kiruna to the Abisko mountain station, then chair lift ride to the Aurora Sky Station, one of the best places in the world to see the incredible Northern Light display.
Day 5 : Depart
Things To Do :
Stadshus, Kiruna : This public building won Sweden’s most beautiful public building prize back in 1964. See the art collection and a display of Sami handicrafts.
Northern Lights By Horse : Enjoy a peaceful experience by horse and sled through the little village of Poikkjarvi just by the Torne river, and watch the sky light up too.
Arctic Wildlife Safari : Spend a day in the mountains and forest with an experience guide and his snow mobile. Start close to the Kalix River.
Half Day On An Iceland Horse : Saddle up and take a slow ride up the highest mountain in Sweden, Kebnekaise.
Moose Safari On Horseback : A guide picks you up at Kiruna and drives through the moose winter land where they can be seen close to the road. Take a ride on an Icelandic horse and back in time for lunch.
Jukkasjarvi Church : Visit the oldest church in Lapland, built of wood.
