Montserrat, an imposing rocky outcrop, smoothed away by years of wind and rain, is the holy mountain of Catalonia, which houses the revered image of the black virgin. the Penedès region is traditionally associated with producing cava –the local variety of champagne- and white and red wines. this trail ends with a tour of some of the region’s oldest wineries and with a tasting of their products.
